The Mercy Health Center’s Women in Philanthropy (WIP) are pleased to announce the donation of $4055 in grant monies to purchase rehabilitation equipment at Mercy Health Center.
Mercy Rehab Services was chosen to receive monies for the purchase of Pediatric Physical Therapy equipment. Over the last year, Physical Therapist Meredith Sewell has been instrumental in the growth of pediatric physical therapy services at Mercy Health Center. With this grant, the department will be able to purchase equipment specific for the age appropriateness of the pediatric patients.
“Mercy Rehab Services is grateful for this donation”, said Eric Baldonado, Director of Mercy Rehab. “With these monies, our therapist will be able to expand the services we provide to our patients and better serve our community.”
Two other programs at Mercy Health Center will be funded this year. The total amount of funding for all three programs is $7300.00. The selection committee comprised of platinum members, along with the approval of all WIP members, shows particular interest toward programs which will enrich the lives of women and children.
Women in Philanthropy was created by women to support Mercy Health Center while, at the same time, encouraging women as philanthropic leaders. There are three levels of donations that women may select from for their annual gift to Women in Philanthropy. By uniting donations, the group is able to identify timely opportunities at the health center and together members choose how to direct the group’s pooled resources.
Barbara Albright and Sharon Campbell, co-founders of Women in Philanthropy, expressed that it is an honor to be a part of this organization. “It is satisfying knowing that collectively this group is able to enhance the lives of others”, Campbell stated.
Organizers have established several payment methods for members ranging from cash, check, or credit card to electronic bank transfers. The giving levels are Platinum, annual gift of $1,000; Gold, annual gift of $500; and Silver, annual gift of $200 for women age 39 and under.
The organization is open to all women who support the work of Mercy and recognize that women as donors have the capability of making an impact on health care in the community. Since inception of the group last summer, 21 charter members have joined the Women in Philanthropy: Kathryn Abbey, Barbara Albright, Reta Baker, Connie Banwart, Sheryl Bloomfield, Linda Boots, Janet Braun, Sharon Campbell, Karen Endicott-Coyan, Terri DelChiaro, Diane Endicott, Annamarie Katosh, Carol Lydic, Colleen Quick, Susan Regan, Tina Rockhold, Marilyn Sipe, Kate Emmett –Sweetser, Renee Thai, M.D., Barbara Wood, and Jeannie Woodrich.
