Mercy and ICC to host “Day of Dance for Health 2010”
Mercy Hospital and Independence Community College have announced plans for the 2010 Spirit of Women “Day of Dance for Health” on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Independence Civic Center. Day of Dance, which will be celebrated simultaneously in more than 65 other U.S. cities, is an event designed to inspire women and their families toward better overall health by promoting the benefits of dance and movement.

Mercy Hospital Foundation welcomes new trustee
The Mercy Hospital Foundation of Independence, Inc. Board of Trustees welcomed new board member Dr. Fay Bradley when it met for its bi-monthly board meeting Monday at the hospital.

Mercy Hospital adds service directors
Mary Schmidt and Rick Coffman have recently joined the staff at Mercy Hospital. Schmidt has been named the new director of Laboratory services, while Coffman is taking over as director of the Surgery department.

Physician Assistant joins Mercy’s Urgent Care Center
Derek Wilson, PA-C, certified physician assistant, has joined the Mercy Physician Group and will begin work Monday in Mercy’s Urgent Care Center, located within the physician clinic, 800 W. Laurel, Independence.

Mercy co-worker completes program
Elizabeth Goad, office assistant in the Facilities Maintenance department at Mercy Hospital, was recently recognized for completion of the “School at Work” program offered through the Sisters of Mercy Health System.
